Grosseto: Blitz on abandoned building, 3 foreigners expelled

A few days ago, in the evening, a woman living in Grosseto, near what is known as the “lake route area”, she reported to 112 that she had heard noises very similar to gunshots: these explosions came, according to the woman's indications, from a building that was not in use, although almost completed from a construction point of view.

Over the years, the building has been occupied illegally several times by individuals seeking makeshift shelter, resulting in various problems of degradation and safety that inevitably extend to the entire neighborhood. Immediately after receiving the report, several patrols of the Arma entered the building, which can be physically accessed even though it is a structure under seizure.

In fact, it was an extremely urgent intervention, given that based on the report, there was the possibility that someone had been hit by the reported shots. However, the occasion was propitious to carry out a check inside the building, and verify any possible undue occupation.

The Carabinieri carried out the checks they found no signs of gunshots, nor any people affected by any gunshots, but four young foreigners who had stored their things there, and were illegally camping inside the premises. Taken to the barracks for identification, it emerged that three of them, adults, were illegally present in the territory, and therefore the expulsion procedure had to be started.

With the collaboration of the relevant offices of the Police Headquarters and the Prefecture, the procedure was completed, and the three arrested - Tunisian citizens without documents, without a fixed abode and illegally residing in the territory - were sent to the Detention and Repatriation Centre in Milo (TP), where they are headed, escorted by the military of the Carabinieri. The fourth individual arrested, who was found to be a minor, was entrusted to social services.

All four were charged with violating the seals (as the property is under seizure) and false personal details to a public official (the four, not having documents, had initially provided false personal details to those operating in the first identification phase).
