Follonica: Carabinieri execute precautionary measures for drug dealing.
A major operation has been underway since the early hours of the morning Carabinieri of the Follonica Company, engaged in the enforcement of a restraining order against 10 subjects.
The provision, issued by GIP of the Court of Grosseto at the request of the Prosecutor's Office, concerns crimes of joint drug dealing in the municipal territory.
The measures include: 3 pre-trial detentions in prison, 7 residence bans.
The action represents a decisive step in the fight against drug dealing and widespread crime in the Gulf city.
The investigation: the bar as an operations center and over 400 documented sales
Investigative activities began in last May, when some observation and shadowing services had allowed the Carabinieri to intercept the first drug sales by foreign citizens, without a fixed abode, to local youths.
From these initial findings, a project was started a more structured operation, conducted with: observations on the territory, shadowing, and technical investigative tools
The investigation identified a organized group of drug dealers, active daily in the sale of hashish and cocaine.
The suspects used a meeting point well-known bar in Follonica, which has become a place for meeting, negotiating and contacting buyers.
The actual exchange took place nearby, often in:
-
public parks
-
pine forests
-
secluded areas not far from the venue
The movements took place almost always on foot, by scooter or by bicycle, with rapid and parceled deliveries to evade controls.
Shared housing: the group's logistical basis
The investigations also allowed the identification of an apartment, located not far from the bar, used as a logistics base from the group.
Formally rented to four of the ten suspects, it was in reality inhabited by all members, becoming one of the key points of the illicit activity.
Follonica's summer and the boom in sales
During the summer season, the peak tourist season, investigators have documented over 400 transfers of narcotics to approximately 50 buyers: residents, young people from neighboring municipalities, and tourists.
The volume of incidents and the quantity of evidence collected allowed the Prosecutor's Office to formulate solid and detailed charges.
Two of the addressees of the ordinance are currently sought.
