Gorizia: Checks aimed at curbing the phenomenon of fictitious residences, fines of 12.000,00 euros imposed

The joint operation of the Carabinieri of the Carabinieri Company and of the Local Police of Gorizia, aimed at curbing the phenomenon of fictitious residences, overcrowding and failure to communicate hospitality, was developed through the use of twenty soldiers from the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus and the local Carabinieri Stations and with the qualified contribution of agents and inspectors from the Local Police of the city capital. The service, deployed in the center of Gorizia, also in light of the inauguration of GO!2025, allowed to check, in a single housing complex, 23 people of foreign origin regularly present in Italy.

The joint checks by the Carabinieri and the Local Police, carried out synergistically, also thanks to the support of the Registry Office of the Isonzo capital, have ascertained that seven foreigners, despite having maintained their registered residence in the city centre, were in fact untraceable and were not found during the checks. Procedures for their cancellation from the registry were therefore started. Sixteen were instead in excess of those regularly resident. There were also twelve irregularities in the matter of hospitality by private individuals, in violation of the provisions of Article 7 of Legislative Decree 286/1998, thus imposing administrative sanctions for a total of 12.000,00 euros.

Investigations are underway to verify the suitability of the residential complex for habitation. The Carabinieri, in close synergy with other law enforcement agencies, is implementing constant and careful control of the territory, which will continue in the coming months and in particular throughout the entire year 2025, the year in which Gorizia, together with Nova Gorica, was designated European capital of culture.. This commitment underlines the crucial role of law enforcement in ensuring security and combating irregularities., demonstrating the will to continue with preventive and monitoring action also in view of the international events that will involve the city.
