Rapallo, Liguria 2030 Think Tank: innovation and sustainability at the heart of the regional agenda.
Liguria Region confirms its commitment on the front ofenergy innovationand ecological transition and environmental safety, with a vision of sustainable development. Among the most relevant projects, the Genoa's candidacy for the headquarters of the Nuclear Safety Agency, supported by the minister Piquet Fratin, which enhances Ligurian excellence in the new nuclear sector (SMR and Generation IV reactors), thanks to Ansaldo, University of Genoa e cutting-edge research centers.
On the renewable energy front, the European project has been launched “Vague”, for the study and experimentation of thewave energy of the Tyrrhenian Sea: 1,85 million euro for environmentally friendly marine technologies.
"With Vague Liguria is the leader of an important European project: together with French partners and Italian and transalpine universities, we will study the potential of our sea for the production of electricity. The Mediterranean is not the ocean, it has different characteristics, but we believe it can offer significant opportunities, also with a view to achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal for 2030 – explains the Energy Councilor Paolo Ripamonti, who spoke today at the ninth edition of the Think Tank Liguria 2030 by The European House – Ambrosetti. – The study will aim to develop a synergy between wave energy and offshore mini wind, two potentially compatible technologies: the goal is to make Liguria increasingly competitive in the field of renewable energy, enhancing the resources of our sea”.
“Another front on which we are committed is that of Renewable Energy CommunitiesThe government has allocated 2 billion euros from the PNRR to support them, and Liguria is doing its part: Vado Ligure we have perhaps the largest CER of Northern Italy, with a capacity of 1 megawatts, and we activated the first one-stop listening desk dedicated to CERs – adds the councilor –. We want to support companies, associations and interested citizens, helping them to overcome bureaucratic difficulties and to realize projects that can generate environmental, economic and social benefits”.
Finally, approved over 4,2 million euros from the FSR for systems of video surveillance in 149 small Ligurian municipalities, to protect the territory and environmental safety. In addition to counteracting phenomena of petty crime, these tools will allow you to identify infringements more effectively linked to waste abandonment and behaviors contrary to civic sense, contributing concretely to the environment protection.
