The Genoa Highway Police continues to carry out checks to combat drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs.
These specific services are part of the intensification of checks and patrols on motorway and ordinary roads by the Traffic Police, which sees an increase in traffic on all routes.
The staff of the Genoa Highway Police Section, in collaboration with the doctors of the State Police, carried out a dedicated service in the eastern part of Genoa, an area particularly affected by the weekend nightlife.
Thanks to a mobile office equipped for the collection and verification of salivary samples to ascertain the possible intake of narcotic substances and the presence of the doctor to verify the psychological state of the drivers, numerous vehicles and people.
From the checks carried out, two of the drivers tested positive for alcohol and were administratively sanctioned pursuant to article 186 paragraph 2 of the Highway Code for driving while intoxicated; at the same time, swabs were carried out by medical staff to check for any use of narcotic substances. In all cases the results were negative.
