Genoa: Police arrest the alleged perpetrator of the robbery against the homeless.

The State Police executed an order for the application of a precautionary measure in prison issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Court of Genoa, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, against a 40-year-old Moroccan, believed to be the alleged perpetrator of the robbery of a homeless elderly man.

The man was resting in a ravine in Salita Carbonara, behind the Carmine market, when a person, described by the victim as a North African of about 40 years old with a slim build, sat down next to him and after drinking his water without asking him permission, grabbed his arm and started hitting him with kicks and punches, thus managing to steal a few tens of euros from him, the result of the alms of the previous days, and an old malfunctioning mobile phone.

The perpetrator then fled, leaving the victim on the ground in pain, when a passing woman noticed him and called for help.

The investigations, immediately started by the men of the Countering Widespread Crime Section of the Flying Squad, through the acquisition and analysis of images from public and private video surveillance systems as well as thanks to the precise description of the subject made by the victim, made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrator, a Moroccan criminal already responsible for other similar crimes, on whom further investigations were carried out which made it possible to verify how he, after the robbery, had gone to the historic center to purchase some doses of narcotics.

The investigation activity, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, therefore allowed to obtain from the GIP of the Court of Genoa, in a very short time, the order of precautionary custody in prison, a measure carried out on Saturday afternoon by the men of the Flying Squad who tracked down the subject in the historic center, then transferring him to the prison of Marassi.
