Genoa: first complaints filed for riots on Via XX Settembre.

Following the investigations launched, the first complaints were filed for the acts of force and aggression carried out in via XX Settembre, by a group of protesters against the police force deployed to protect the press conference organized by the political movement Forza Nuova, for the presentation of the candidate for the next regional elections, in the presence of the National Secretary Roberto Fiore and members from other provinces.

After the more than 150 demonstrators of the Antifascist Network gathered in Piazza De Ferrari had moved towards Via XX Settembre, a particularly lively group of militants attempted to approach the entrance to the event site, which had been previously cordoned off and guarded by the relevant Departments, proving from the beginning to be not very sensitive to the mediation of the Digos.

The militants, some of whom were disguised, showing increasing aggressiveness, first confronted and pressed, then attempted to break through the barrage of the units, throwing blunt objects, glass bottles, poles, flags and hitting them with belts and motorcycle helmets.

The contingents contained the actions, maintaining their position and opposing with the use of shields, resorting for a few moments to the use of force, until the demonstrators gave up.

On this occasion, four operators of the VI Mobile Department sought medical treatment for injuries deemed curable in 15 days, for a suspected scaphoid fracture, and 10 days for trauma to the hands and shoulders. A Responsible Officer of the Sector was hit in the hand with a belt, while a vehicle of the Department and a shield were damaged.

At present, there are about ten people identified and reported to the Judicial Authority, including some local ultras, for crimes ranging from resisting and injuring a public official, to carrying weapons or objects capable of causing offence, to covering one's face during public demonstrations. For all the suspects, the presumption of innocence remains firm until a final sentence.

Further investigations are underway, also aimed at identifying the individuals who surrounded and slapped a passerby under the arcades of this Via Ettore Vernazza, with whom they had an altercation, who turned out to be a 45-year-old homeless man, in a state of drunkenness and a nuisance, wearing a black T-shirt with drawings that can be interpreted as being attributable to the extreme right.

The immediate intervention of the Digos allowed him to be made safe.
