Genoa: four VLT halls checked, it was verified that there were no minors under 18, some safety failures were found.

On Tuesday afternoon and evening, the State Police carried out extraordinary administrative checks aimed at betting shops and VLTs, located in the capital, in the delegations of San Fruttuoso and Marassi.

The activity was carried out by a Task Force coordinated by the Director of the Administrative and Social Police Division, composed of personnel from the Liguria Crime Prevention Department, the Flying Squad, anti-drug dog teams of the UPG and SP, with the collaboration of officials from the Customs and Monopolies Agency, the regulatory authority for the supervision and control of public gambling, as well as the CProvincial command of the Genoa Fire Brigade, Judicial Police section, competent in matters relating to fire safety and workplace safety regulations.

Overall 4 VLT rooms were checked, located in via Canevari, c.so Sardegna and via Fereggiano.

With the assistance of the officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) the correspondence of the number of gaming machines has been verified, the validity of police authorisations and concessions and the random check of certificates of conformity and operating permits for gaming and betting machines.

Upon access, the staff immediately verified that there were no minors under 18 years of age inside the rooms and that suitable mechanisms were regularly active to prevent minors from accessing the game.

No irregularities were detected during the checks.

The activity of the Administrative Team of the PAS Division and the Fire Brigade Command found, in some rooms, non-compliances relating to: non-regulated fire prevention trail, non-inspected fire extinguishers, presence of combustible material that could cause danger, absence of DVR, insufficient safety signs, emergency exits not adequately signalled and electrical systems not compliant with the state of the art, with exposed cables and direct contact hazards.

These violations in the field of fire prevention and workplace safety have immediately led to the preparation of prescriptive measures to protect workers and customers. Further investigations are underway for the adoption of the consequent sanctions.

In addition to the 4 VLT rooms, 2 minimarkets in Via Canevari were checked, which were the subject of complaints as a regular meeting place for people who abuse alcohol.

A total of 38 patrons were identified, 24 of whom had police records.
