The UPG and SP, together with the Crime Prevention Unit, the Anti-Drug Canine Units and with the collaboration of the Local Police and the Italian Army, carried out an inter-force anti-crime service in the historic center.
The area of Via Prè, the so-called “Ghetto”, the porticoes of Sottoripa and adjacent alleys, the “Maddalena”, the Darsena and the Nunziata as well as the portion of the historic centre located to the east of Piazza Matteotti and Via San Lorenzo were monitored.
170 grams of narcotic substance in total, found and seized from unknown persons, thanks to the nose of the drug-sniffing dog Constantin:

- 47 grams of cannabis derivatives inside a gas meter in vico Pietre Preziose;
- 22 grams of cannabis derivatives hidden inside an Enel box in Via di Sottoripa.
Two individuals found in possession of narcotic substances were also checked and were administratively reported to the Prefecture for the application of the sanctions provided for, such as the suspension of their driving license, gun license, passport and residence permit.
It concerns a 17-year-old stopped in via di Prè and a 22-year-old stopped while he was driving a car. The officers immediately perceived a strong smell of marijuana, which is why they proceeded with a vehicle search that led to the discovery of a bag containing a modest quantity of hashish. In this case the license was immediately withdrawn.
In the evening, the operators intervened following a fight involving bottles that took place in Piazza del Campo and, shortly afterwards, in Salita Pollaiuoli where a violent attack was underway against a young man, found lying on the ground in a semi-conscious state.
The attackers, at the sight of the police who were quickly reaching the scene, fled.
The service, coordinated by a UPGSP official, allowed for the identification of a total of over 100 people, whose position is still being examined.
