Genoa: all prevention and control activities on the territory have been strengthened in view of the arrival of a massive number of people for Ferragosto.

Just finished at the Police Headquarters, the joint technical table, in which the operational priorities were examined and the major resources that will be fielded by the various offices of the State Police of the Province, including the Specialties, for the August holiday, characterized also this year by a massive exodus of people and the influx of numerous tourists, many foreigners, who chose to visit the Ligurian capital and the coasts of the province.

The shared goal is to guarantee greater security in the most sensitive city times and quadrants, for frequenting and aggregating people, pursuing it in full coordination with the Commands of the other Police Forces and the local Police, in implementation of what was decided at the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, last Monday.

As for the State Police, the security plan set up by Police Chief Burdese sees the maximum use of personnel from the various branches of the Police Headquarters, with an increase in all prevention activities, starting from the police - both of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office and of the 7 Sectional Police Stations -, of the investigative services of the Flying Squad, but also of the controls of the Anti-Crime Division, activated in recent days with greater frequency for disputes and episodes of violence of kind, of different intensity.

Focus on the historic center where, in the alleyways such as Sottoripa and via Gramsci, the motorbikes, both police and civilian colours, from the offices responsible for controlling the territory were also deployed, useful for reaching the well-known alleys and clearings, at the center of the recent increased safety demands of residents and businesses. Still in the historic centre, fully operational, the new joint operational module continues which sees a joint patrol made up of the State Police - alternating with the Carabinieri - Since the end of July, the Army of Operation Safe Roads and the Municipal Police have been patrolling - on foot - the alleys assigned by the Coordinated Territorial Control Plan, every afternoon and evening.

Targeted at the areas and days of evening and nightlife, where the most popular public and commercial establishments are concentrated, the controls of the Administrative and Social Police Division are concentrated, in particular to curb the sale and supply of alcohol to minors.

The daily competition of the Crime Prevention Department patrols was important, seen in action on Monday evening in Prè and Darsena and yesterday afternoon and evening in the Center area, from the upper part of via della Maddalena and vico Mele to Sottoripa, where in vico Invrea, the agents seized a one-ounce block of hashish and checked around a hundred people. These are anti-crime patrols that extend their action to various delegations, from Nervi and Quinto to Sampierdarena and Sestri Ponente, together with the anti-drug canine units of the Police Headquarters.

Similar anti-crime services are in place in Chiavari and Rapallo by those detached police stations, also busy with the numerous events, religious festivals, festivals and entertainment which have already attracted many holidaymakers in the eastern part of Genoa in recent days.

On the road safety front, the Specialty device has been expanded which will guarantee maximum presence on the main road and motorway arteries affected by August traffic throughout the province. The Railway Police, similarly, has increased services aimed at preventing theft and scams in the most crowded places, with patrols in the station and on board the train. The checks will also be aimed at preventing illegal behavior and respecting the rules in the railway sector in order to avoid accidents to people. The mixed Polfer and Army patrols will also monitor the external perimeter of the Principe and Brignole stations and the related accesses to the Metro. In the province, there is intense railway safety activity along the route leading to Santa Margherita - Portofino and Sestri Levante, towards the 5 Terre, which is always very crowded.

The Border Police has increased its presence and controls to the maximum at the Port of Genoa, affected by an extraordinary flow of passengers departing and arriving from ferries, including non-Scenghen embarkations – over 12.000 people are expected on August XNUMXth alone -, for which it will be supported by further daily reinforcements. Similarly, in the airport sector, surveillance of transit safety will also see anti-sabotage dog units deployed.

The Cyber ​​Police, from via XX Settembre and degli Erzelli, ensures constant monitoring of the network and all useful support in the event of online scams and crimes.

The coordination of the extraordinary services deployed for the week of August, both preventive and judicial, is the responsibility of the Operations Room of the Police Headquarters, which also ensures constant monitoring of the territory remotely, thanks to the widespread city video surveillance system. The Center guarantees, on an ordinary basis, the first interface with the citizen, responding to the NUE 112, and activating the necessary public rescue and emergency interventions. Thanks to the numerous and timely telephone reports received, the Flying Squad in the past few days and especially nights, managed to arrive on site in time and surprise the alleged perpetrators of car and home thefts, damage, in flagrante delicto, as well as various illicit acts.

In this regard, the Police Headquarters advises citizens to immediately report suspicious noises coming from neighboring homes to 112 NUE, especially when they know that the neighbor is not at home or the movement of suspicious people in the condominiums, due to the incidents Of scams targeting the elderly and vulnerable groups who, during this holiday period, tend to remain alone more, as well as apartment thefts. On the street, on the train, on the beach, it is better to never lose sight of your personal effects, bags, luggage, cell phone and not give in to distraction which, in crowded places, makes it easier for pickpockets.

The State Police is available to citizens 24 hours a day and can only appreciate and thank those who do their utmost for the safety of the community, reporting, reporting and collaborating with the operators on the telephone as well as on the road, enabling the agents to proceed as best as possible and to refer the alleged perpetrators to the Judicial Authority of criminal acts.
