Genoa: attempts to steal 300 euros worth of perfume, arrested.
A UPGSP patrol car in transit on Via Cipro was stopped by an employee of a perfume shop, who pointed out to them the probable perpetrator of a theft she had just committed, who was moving away quickly.
The young woman, realizing that the patrol car was tailgating her, threw the bag she was carrying over her shoulder to the ground, continuing on her way as if nothing had happened. Her maneuver was however noticed by the officers who stopped her and recovered the bag, which was completely lined with tin foil to elude the anti-theft barriers. Inside were three perfumes with a total value of 310 euros, returned intact to the owner of the shop.
From the statements of the shop assistants it emerged that the young woman had entered the perfumery shortly before with another woman, pretending to make purchases. The alleged accomplice had simulated a phone call and had gone out, setting off the anti-shoplifting alarm and disappearing. While the store staff was busy trying to stop her, the 22-year-old had put the perfumes in the shielded bag, leaving without setting off the alarm.
The young woman will be subjected to the direct trial. Investigations are underway to identify the woman who was with her.
