The State Police of Genoa carried out a territorial control service, coordinated by the Cornigliano Police Station, together with the Liguria Crime Prevention Department, UPGSP and the anti-drug dog team in the neighborhoods of Cornigliano, Sampierdarena, Certosa, Rivarolo, Bolzaneto and Pontedecimo.
In the afternoon, a UPGSP patrol intervened following a report of a person attempting to force open the doors of some parked cars.
The operators, after having viewed the video surveillance images of the Municipality of Genoa, identified the man, a 36-year-old Algerian with no fixed abode and an illegal immigrant, who was walking along Via Cornigliano in an area known for drug dealing activities, while he was talking to a young man and taking something out of his pocket. They then intervened immediately, catching them in the act and subjecting them to a personal search. The 36-year-old, found in possession of half a block of hashish, a knife and a precision scale, was arrested for drug dealing. The direct trial this morning.
At 20.30 pm, the Giardini della Fiumara were monitored, which had been the subject of numerous reports from users and residents of the area.
During the service, several individuals were checked and, with the help of drug-sniffing dogs, some doses of cocaine were found hidden near two young Tunisians, who were allegedly illegal in the area. Following a search, they were found to be in possession of some grams of hashish and were therefore fined for personal use of narcotic substances. Furthermore, one of the two was found to be in possession of a stolen goods case.
Shortly after, in via Cornigliano, two crews from the UPGSP and the Central Police Station arrested a 21-year-old Moroccan for attempted robbery.
The young man, after having eaten dinner inside a kebab shop, went to the cash register and tried to open it to take the money, but when he failed he threatened the owner with a glass bottle, then violently smashed it on his shoulder. Before leaving he took some stools and threw them at the owner.
Upon their arrival, the officers managed to put an end to the aggressive action of the boy who, after being taken to the Police Headquarters, was taken to the Marassi prison at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
Overall, over 100 subjects were checked during the service, including customers of two slot machine rooms in via Molteni and another venue in via Rela.
