Genoa: Derby della Lanterna, arrests, reports and removals for public order.

For the city derby, public order services were strengthened since the eve with the State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza and, for the part of competence, Local Police, which allowed the regular progress of the match as well as the management of the violent actions carried out by the Ultras.
The officers of a UPGSP patrol, during an initiative check, stopped a car, in Via Emanuele Filiberto Duca D'Aosta with three subjects on board. In the car were hidden a wooden club, two hard plastic bats, 4 motorcycle helmets, 36 smoke bombs and a switchblade, duly seized.

The three men aged 21, 29 and 50, already recipients of DASPO measures, were reported to the Judicial Authority for unjustified possession of weapons or objects capable of causing offence.

Furthermore, the 22-year-old and the 50-year-old, also found in possession of a small quantity of hashish, were reported as drug users and the 22-year-old, driving the car, was also reported for driving under the influence of drugs and his license was withdrawn.
In the pre-match, in the early afternoon, the device then intervened for the first contact attempt, at the height of Ponte Serra, on the sidelines of the movement of the fans for the preparation of the choreography and banners inside the stadium.

The immediate intervention of the contingents, who intervened, pushed back the two opposing groups and avoided the clash. On this occasion, 17 clubs and sticks, a telescopic truncheon and a knife with a 20 cm blade were seized.
Shortly after the start of the second half, following the display of the mutually stolen banners in the two stands, a mass exit from the stadium occurred, first from the South stand and then from the North stand, of several hundred ultras.

Disguised and armed with sticks and improper weapons, many wearing motorcycle helmets, they repeatedly tried to approach each other, moving along the streets surrounding and adjacent to the stadium.

Thanks also to the indications of the aerial surveillance, the containment and repulsion actions of the Departments, authorized to use tear gas and water cannons, were timely.

Throughout the evening, the police presence and blockades, the systematic interposition of the squads, avoided any contact between the opposing fan bases, facing from time to time the continuous maneuvers of the Police lines to bypass them. The actions of aggression against the police force were deliberate, carried out and attempted with the use of wooden sticks and clubs, metal rods, straps and with the throwing of various types of blunt objects.
In these circumstances, 8 local fans, 6 of whom were minors, were taken to the Police Headquarters: a 50-year-old arrested in Corso De Stefanis, for aggravated resistance to a Public Official, who also sought medical attention; 7 young people, 6 of whom were minors, were caught in Via Canevari and reported to the Judicial Authority for unjustified possession of weapons or objects capable of causing offence, disguise and aggravated resistance to a Public Official, with related seizures of sticks, chains, belts and material useful for disguise.

The last pushback action, which finally allowed the most resistant groups to be dispersed, ended in via Bobbio, where a group of ultras moved the municipal waste bins to create a sort of barricade, attempting to set them on fire.
Following the cleanup and safety operations at the scene of the clashes, 23 wooden rods, 4 heavy metal rods and 7 hard plastic rods were also found.

The patrols deployed along the escape routes stopped two vehicles with French license plates whose 7 occupants were found in possession of sticks, knives, steel balls, balaclavas, spray paint cans and fireworks. 2 were arrested and 5 reported at large and in possession of a removal order from the Prefect of Genoa for reasons of public order.
The number of injured among the Police Forces is 36: 19 State Police, 16 Carabinieri, 1 Guardia di Finanza, who reported injuries with a prognosis of 7 to 35 days, because they were hit by the throwing of blunt objects and firecrackers and by the use of sticks, clubs and belts.

The most serious injuries include a fractured hand, which required emergency surgery, several fractured ribs and a head injury, as well as numerous lacerated and contused wounds that were sutured.

Many were treated on site thanks to the prompt intervention of 118 who, once the service was completed, went to the city hospitals. 5 were injured, including managers and officials of the State Police.
By 1.30am, the situation at Marassi and at the traditional fan gathering places had returned to normal and remained under surveillance.
The local Digos continues its active investigations, analyzing the copious amount of video and photographic documentation aimed at identifying the perpetrators of the serious criminal conduct carried out.
