Genoa: Widespread administrative checks on the “Compro Oro” business in the Historic Center

As part of the activities aimed at verification of administrative regularity in the management of commercial establishments, as well as the prevention and repression of crimes, the Administrative and Social Police of the Genoa Police Headquarters, together with personnel from the Central Police Station, carried out an extraordinary administrative check of commercial activities in the Historic Centre area. During the service, the “Compro Oro” activities in the historic centre were checked, in via San Pietro della Porta and Via Porta Soprana.

Among the commercial establishments checked, in particular in one, the Administrative Police detected the violation of the licensing requirements pursuant to the TUPLS legislation, since the owner did not keep the necessary documents at the establishment, readily available upon request by State Police Officers, jewels purchased in the last 10 days and for failure to comply with the obligation to retain data acquired during the commercial transaction.

In two premises, the failure to register in the mandatory register for gold and second-hand dealers was found, at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and, therefore, reported to the Guardia di Finanza Command, as far as it is competent. Similar checks will continue in the coming days, especially in view of the Christmas holidays, where a notable increase in activity in gold buying shops has been observed.
