Liguria Region and Municipality of Mele united for a modern, inclusive hub that is close to the needs of the weakest groups.

In Mele a facility for the elderly, disabled and families: the new social-health centre is underway,

Within the framework of the Regional Strategic Fund, the Liguria Regional Council has approved the funding for the construction of a new Social-health center in the Municipality of Mele, an intervention that is part of the actions for the strengthening of local health and the care of the most vulnerable people.

The project foresees a total investment of 150.000 euros, of which 100.000 financed by the Liguria Region through the Regional Strategic Fund (applying to the 2026 financial year) and 50 thousand euros of co-financing by the Municipality of Mele.

The new center will be an integrated local facility, designed to offer social and health services in a coordinated and accessible way, in particular for the elderly, people with disabilities and citizens in conditions of social vulnerability. The facility will bring care and assistance closer to those who live in a decentralized geographical context such as that of western Genoa, strengthening the network of territorial services and promoting home care.

“With the new Mele Social-Health Centre – he declares Health Councillor Massimo Nicolò – we bring public health ever closer to citizens, especially those who have greater difficulty moving around. A new facility to intercept needs before they become emergencies, offering concrete support, with a view to ever greater integration between the social and healthcare sectors. It is an example of good planning and institutional collaboration, which strengthens the goal of a more equitable and accessible Liguria for all”.

“The new social-health centre that will be built in Mele represents another concrete step towards strengthening local services for the communities of western Genoa, in line with the requests that arrive daily from citizens and local administrators – declares the managing director Alessio Piana -. With this intervention, financed thanks to the Regional Strategic Fund, we confirm the desire to invest in local healthcare, bringing services and care closer to those who live in hilly and decentralized contexts, in order to intercept needs before they become emergencies. It is an important signal for families, for the elderly and for people with disabilities, who will be able to count on a modern, integrated and accessible facility, capable of guaranteeing continuous care, in close synergy with the realities of the territory. I thank Councilor Nicolò and the entire regional council for supporting this project, which strengthens the common goal of a Liguria closer to the needs of each community”.

The intervention represents a strategic step in the construction of a modern, widespread and inclusive community healthcare system, in line with the guidelines of the Regional Social-Health Plan.

The activities of the new Social-Health Centre, among others:
