A 32-year-old was saved thanks to the Ligurian transplant network. Councilor Nicolò thanks the doctors: starting September, an awareness campaign will be launched on buses and beach resorts.

At the hospital San Martino Polyclinic in Genoa a successful execution was performed life-saving liver transplant on a 32-year-old young man hospitalized in intensive care for fulminant hepatic failure, which occurs after inhalation of toxic fumes during a fire. Thanks to national transplant network and the timeliness of the medical team, last August 26th the patient received a new organ.
“I would like to thank San Martino, the professionals of the Ligurian transplant network and, in particular, Dr. Enzo Andorno and his team for the commitment, sensitivity and expertise that they put at the service of patients every day – declared the Health Councillor Massimo Nicolò –. Every donation represents a gesture of extraordinary solidarity, capable of restoring hope and life to those in critical conditions.”
The communication campaign by the Liguria Region to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of organ and tissue donation: launched in recent months on social channels, it will also be present on urban and extra-urban buses of the Liguria Region and in the beach resorts of Western Liguria.
