Liguria Region allocates 950 thousand euros for the homeless: 700 thousand to the Municipality of Genoa

The Liguria Region has allocated 950 thousand euros for interventions to support people in conditions of extreme poverty and homelessness. Of these, 700 thousand euros will go to the Municipality of Genoa. The funds will be used to implement services in response to primary needs, from the distribution of food, clothing and medicines, to personal care and hygiene, to soup kitchens; night shelter services such as dormitories, daytime shelter services and socio-housing inclusion.

"We wanted to give important support - Explains the councilor for Health and Social Policies of the Liguria Region –, with particular attention to the larger cities, where the presence of homeless people is necessarily higher, without forgetting the other Ligurian realities. With this allocation we will thus guarantee and strengthen the activities carried out by the districts of the social spheres to support people in situations of social marginalization. The funding is in continuity with other interventions to support the Municipalities, such as the recent activation of the new community social center in the historic center of Genoa, in Vico della Croce Bianca 24r, where the center's opening hours have also been implemented in the evening and night time slots".
