Yesterday, in Police Headquarters, took place Technical table for reorganization of extraordinary control services in the historic center, in implementation of what was decided by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security met on October 15th at the Prefecture. During the meeting, the following were shared: operational priorities between State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Local Police and Army, with the purpose of strengthen the prevention and repression of crimes, counter the urban decay and respond to the growing demand for security coming from committees, associations and citizens.

The State Police, starting from Monday 13 October, has intensified daily services of control in the historic center, thanks to the support of the Liguria Crime Prevention Department and personnel from Piedmont sent for the occasion. The patrols operated in different times of the day, guaranteeing a constant and visible presence.

The operations focused on Via Prè, Piazza Metellino, the former Ghetto, Via Maddalena, Via San Luca, Piazza delle Vigne, Via di Scurreria, Piazza Campetto, Via degli Orefici, Piazza Banchi, Piazza Caricamento, the Sottoripa arcades, Via Gramsci and the Darsena, including the subway stations.

During the activities they were three men arrested:

  • Un 25-year-old from Genoa for possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing, found in possession of various narcotic substances in tablets, a precision balance and two cell phones;

  • Un 19 year old Moroccan for rapina: he had snatched a cell phone from a young man in Via Gramsci. He was tracked down in Via Balbi and found with a pair of scissors, also being reported for illegal carrying of weapons;

  • Un 36-year-old from Genoa for theft with skill, caught in Vico Malatti after stealing a bag from the Porto Antico.

They were also 15 people reported for predatory crimes, receiving stolen goods, resisting arrest and illegal possession of weapons, with seizures of a knife, a pair of scissors and a pepper spray. Also charged with crimes related to the drug, All 'irregularities on the national territory, throwing dangerous objects and the driving under the influence of alcohol.

Six people, among the 21 and 42 years, found in possession of narcotics for personal use, they were reported to the Prefecture for the initiation of the procedures required by current legislation.
