Genoa: A 20-year-old Algerian man is arrested for stabbing a young man in the historic center.
State Police arrested the attacker for attempted aggravated murder. Two more arrests were made on the same day on warrants.
Genoa: A 20-year-old Algerian man is arrested for stabbing a young man in the historic center.
La State Police arrested a 20 year old Algerian, illegal in Italy and without a fixed abode, accused of attempted aggravated murder, after a violent episode that occurred in Old Town of the Ligurian capital.
The attack happened in Via del Campo around 18:50 PM on Monday, October 20, when a young man was hit with two slashes to the back of the neck from a cutting weapon. The victim, found in a state of unconsciousness, it was rescued by 118 personnel and transported in red code at Galliera hospital.
Immediately the agents of the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue (UPGSP) they have activated. The Police Headquarters operations room, thanks to video surveillance images from “Città Sicura”, identified the moment of the attack: it was clearly visible a boy holding a cutter approach the victim and strike him on the head before fleeing in the direction of Porta dei Vacca.
The description of the suspect was distributed to all patrol cars in the area. After less than an hour, a patrol from the Cornigliano Police Stationin Vittorio Veneto square, has identified a young man corresponding in physical features and clothing. The 20-year-old was stopped and found still in possession of the cutter used to hit the victim.
Conducted in Police Headquarters, it emerged that the man, already known for property crimes and illegal possession of weapons, has purchased the tool the same day in a hardware store in the alleys. After the ritual formalities, it was associated with the Marassi prison available to the Judicial Authority.
Stay still there presumption of innocence of the suspect until a final conviction.
During operations in via del Campo, the UPGSP officers also a 30-year-old Frenchman arrested, convicted of property crimes, hit by a prison detention order issued by Court of Milano for repeated violations of the ban on residing in Lombardy.
During the same afternoon, also a 38-year-old from Genoa was arrested by the agents of the Cornigliano Police Station in execution of a detention order issued by Court of Genoa for suspension of house arrest and continuation of the sentence in prison. Man must serve almost three years in prison for aggravated theft and robbery crimes.
Both subjects were associated with the Marassi prison, where they will remain at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
