Isola del Liri (Frosinone), convicted of fraud. Arrested by the Carabinieri

The 8-year-old, with multiple criminal convictions, arrested by the Carabinieri of the Isola del Liri station and placed under “house arrest” in the municipality of Castelliri, where he lives, must serve the remaining 78 months of prison sentence.

The man had been irrevocably convicted of a fraud perpetrated, together with his son, also a repeat offender, to the detriment of a Belgian cattle dealer from whom they had purchased numerous heads of cattle, for a value indicated at the time of the complaint as approximately €350, paid with cheques which were later found to be unpayable.

The animals for slaughter had been delivered in several stages and in several parts of Italy, to cover their tracks. The payments, meanwhile, had been made in the initial phases in cash, so as to give the impression of solvency, and then with checks with extended deadlines, precisely to have time to be able to profit from the marketing of the animals, only to later prove unpayable for an amount of €320.

This was the picture presented to the Carabinieri of the Isola del Liri Station in the complaint that the Belgian citizen, now 54 years old, had filed when, having come looking for the man to ask for explanations, he realized he was being scammed.

Following the investigations carried out by the Carabinieri, the Attorney General of the Republic at the Court of Appeal of Rome was able to establish the responsibility of the defendant and sentence him. He will now have to serve the remaining sentence at home where, again the Carabinieri of Isola del Liri, will ensure his permanence by subjecting him to periodic checks.
