Frosinone: parcel bomb found, perpetrator already identified

On January 21, 2025, State Police personnel intervened in Frosinone on Via Mastruccia due to the reported presence of a parcel bomb. Once the device was detected, the UPGSP personnel of the Frosinone Police Headquarters, who were the first to intervene, evacuated and cordoned off the area, and the bomb disposal personnel of the Rome Police Headquarters proceeded to defuse the device and secure the area.

The device, contained in a cardboard box and found on a mobility scooter inside the building located at the above-mentioned address, consisted of a timer and 3 canisters containing unclassified pyrotechnic devices, connected to the first.

The investigations started by the operators of the Flying Squad of the Frosinone Police Headquarters allowed, through the recipient indicated on the package, to trace the post office of shipment, acquire the videos coinciding with the time of the attempted shipment and identify the author of the same. The alleged perpetrator, therefore, having recent police records for mistreatment of his mother and brother, was reported to the competent Judicial Authority for simulation of a crime.

According to the investigators' initial reconstructions, the motive for the illegal act would be traced back to the criminal's intent to discourage the perpetrator of a recent theft of an Amazon package, which he had ordered a few days earlier and which, once received, he had left unattended in the lobby of his building.
