Frosinone and Latina, NAS of the Carabinieri in Action. Seizures and Suspensions for Hygienic Irregularities during the Christmas Holidays
The Christmas holidays, a time of increased consumption of typical products such as panettone and pandoro, are also a period of increased controls by the NAS Carabinieri to ensure food safety. In recent days, two significant interventions have been carried out in Fondi (LT) and Ferentino (FR), leading to seizures and suspensions of activities due to serious irregularities.
In Funds, as part of the monthly operational strategy established by the Carabinieri Command for Health Protection, the NAS carried out an inspection at a local bakery. During the inspection, approximately 70 panettoni and 5 pandoro were administratively seized, for a total value of 2.500 euros. The sweets were found to lack the mandatory information regarding the expiration date, the production batch and the actual producer.
The owner of the bakery was warned to regularize the situation by correctly relabeling the products, respecting the current regulations on food safety and traceability.
An even more serious situation was found in Ferentino, in the province of Frosinone, where The NAS Carabinieri carried out an inspection at a bakery. The inspection revealed serious health and hygiene and structural deficiencies: widespread dirt, cobwebs on work equipment, rusty baking trays.
Given these conditions, the ASL Frosinone staff, who intervened on site, ordered the immediate suspension of the bakery activity. In addition, the owner of the business was charged with an administrative fine of 1.000 euros.
These interventions highlight the importance of complying with health and hygiene regulations and labeling provisions, which are essential for protecting public health. The NAS reiterates the invitation to all food sector operators to ensure adequate standards, especially in a period of the year in which consumption of typical products reaches its peak.
Consumers are also urged to be careful when choosing foods, always checking for complete labels and reporting any anomalies to the competent authorities. Food safety remains an absolute priority to ensure a peaceful Christmas free from health risks.
