Ceprano: Carabinieri checks, 2 people arrested for spending counterfeit banknotes
I soldiers of the Carabinieri Station of Ceprano (FR) have arrested, for "spending of counterfeit banknotes in competition" a 42enne and a 19enne, both coming from the Capital, already burdened by Police record.
The two, after having identified Ceprano which potentially fertile place to carry out their criminal purpose, taking advantage of the fact that during the morning all the commercial activities are open, they started making purchases of low-value goods by giving counterfeit 50 euro notes as payment.
Some shopkeepers, including a supermarket, a bar and a fishmonger, fell into their criminal plan. Initially, they did not realise that they had been paid with counterfeit banknotes since the latter were of excellent quality, so they gave the suspects change in good paper money.
During another attempt by the criminals to spend the counterfeit money, however, the shopkeeper, owner of a grocery store, noticed that the money he received was clearly counterfeit, and therefore refused the payment.
At the same time, the same trader alerted, via NUE 112, the Operations Centre of the Carabinieri Company of Pontecorvo providing information on the two individuals who had recently left, also providing a partial description of the means of transport they were travelling on.
The promptness of the citizen's phone call thus gave the Operations Center operator the opportunity to alert all external services present in the area at that time, causing several cars with institutional colors to gravitate towards the area potentially visited by the two reported individuals.
It was precisely the speed of the device put in place that allowed the Ceprano patrol di intercept, and then to block, along the SR Casilina, the car with the man and the woman on board which, in the circumstances, were accompanied by a child under 9 years of age, cohabiting son of one of the two.
Obviously, the two individuals and their vehicle were immediately and accurately checked, which allowed them to find 16 50 euro banknotes, which the couple had meanwhile torn up when they were stopped, as well as a whole 50 euro note.
At that point, therefore, with the support of other soldiers who arrived as reinforcements, the detainees were conducted at the Carabinieri Station of Ceprano where, after having seized what was found, they were arrested and both were taken to the Rebibbia prison in Rome, for the woman, while the man was sent to the Frosinone prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority of the Ciociaria capital, awaiting the direct trial.
The minor, however, was entrusted to his father, who was sent to the scene.
The facts contested to the two arrested also allowed the operating military to notify them of the start of the administrative procedure aimed at issuing the Mandatory expulsion order with a ban on returning to the municipality of Ceprano for three years.
