Cassino (Frosinone), traveling with 60.000 thousand euros of jewels. Stopped by the State Police

State Police Staff, specifically of the Cassino Traffic Police Subsection, during a service aimed at combating the widespread phenomenon of scams/extortions against elderly people, on the southbound carriageway of the A1 motorway under your jurisdiction, spotted a car traveling at high speed.

Despite heavy traffic and the typical speed of the highway, the officers managed to reach the vehicle and proceed to check the only occupant on board.

The driver had a criminal record for property crimes and in particular for fraud against elderly people.

The boy, who gave no account of his trip to northern Italy, where he came from, provided vague statements about the reason for his trip.

Cassino, in viaggio con 60.000 mila euro di gioielli. Fermato dalla Polizia di Stato

At this point, the Highway Patrol Police decided to carry out a personal search and a search of the vehicle he was travelling in; the intuition of the “road bikers” proved correct as inside the vehicle they found numerous gold jewels, well hidden, and in his underwear they found a sock containing various jewels and cash amounting to 15.350 euros.

The investigators of the Highway Police immediately began a scrupulous investigation that allowed them to trace several scams against the elderly using the so-called “fake road accident involving a family member” technique, which had taken place in the provinces of Bologna and Treviso, the illicit proceeds of which were found to be compatible with the jewels and money found following the search.

At the end of the investigations, the man was reported to the competent Judicial Authority while the stolen goods will be returned to the identified victims.

The State Police draws attention to these scam methods, warning against believing anyone who orders the delivery of jewelry or money.
