San Severo: new blitz in the San Bernardino district, 18 artefacts seized and 12 people reported.

This morning, following an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Foggia, the Organized Crime Section Flying Squad and the Local Police of San Severo, jointly, executed a Preventive Seizure Decree, issued by the GIP of the Court of Foggia, of n.18 illegal properties built in the San Bernardino district of San Severo.

The measure represents the ninth step of Seizures and arises from a broad investigative activity that sees numerous people investigated, still in the process of being identified, for the crimes of illegal occupation pursuant to art.633 and 639 bis of the Criminal Code and building abuse pursuant to art.44 letter b) of Presidential Decree no.380/2001.

The investigation activities, still underway, They follow the line of investigation of the Troy and Troy 2 operations carried out in recent months by the State Police with numerous arrests for drug dealing in the San Bernardino district.

Operation “Troy” allowed investigators from the Foggia Prosecutor's Office to turn the spotlight on the entire San Bernardino neighborhood which over the years has become the object of wild construction of illegal buildings on public land also used as drug dealing areas and coffee shops for the consumption of substances.

Hence the strategy of the Prosecutor's Office to build a single operational front, between the Foggia Police Headquarters (Flying Squad) and the San Severo Local Police, for investigative activities with the primary aim of physically targeting those places of drug dealing in order to restore legality also from an environmental and urban planning point of view.

The investigation activities concerned a new series of buildings in the heart of the San Bernardino district in San Severo built in a wild way on public land in the absence of the required authorizations and without a certificate of habitability.

From the investigation activities, still in progress, it has emerged that the people reported, with the construction of the illegal works, invaded public lands, continuing to occupy them and profiting from them, given that the illegal buildings, subject to preventive seizure, were used as a shelter/storage for vehicles, acting as real appurtenances to the homes.

The investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted jointly between the Flying Squad of Foggia and the Local Police of San Severo, have allowed us to ascertain an urban transformation of the area with a concrete alteration of the original intended use, in fact occupying public spaces for private purposes that could have been used as roads and sidewalks or areas of public utility.
