Foggia: Organ Transport. State Police's Prompt Intervention Saves 2 Human Lives
Last 22 March, at night, the Transplant Center of Bari requested the immediate intervention of the State Police to organize the transportation – with maximum speed and safety – of a medical team coming from Naples to carry out a delicate organ removal surgery which was carried out at the United Hospitals of Foggia.
The paramedics managed to arrive just in time to remove 2 vital organs which in a very short time were transported, safely and quickly, to Naples and Bari intended to 2 Different Patients on Waiting List for Life-Saving Transplants.
La Foggia Police Headquarters, in sight, has organized and coordinated a specific service of Relay from Gino Lisa Airport in Foggia to the Riuniti Hospitals in Foggia and vice versa, thus allowing – in the limited time dictated by the emergency – rapid and safe transport of the removed organs.
The emergency response of the State Police and the collaboration promptly provided by the bodies which, in various capacities, took part in this service have allowed us to save 2 human lives, demonstrating once again the importance of working as a system by deploying every available resource to prioritize emergencies involving citizens.
“Always be there”, it's not just a slogan but the testimony of a local service that becomes precious help at the service of the community.
