Foggia: Seven people arrested for participating in the organization and commission of an attempted robbery of an armored van.

The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Foggia have executed a Prison Detention Order, issued by the GIP of the Court of Foggia at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, against 7 suspects, accused - in various capacities - of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, receiving stolen goods, possession and carrying of weapons – including war weapons – and more.

The investigative activity - coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Foggia and started by the Carabinieri following the assault on an armored van, which took place on 03 December 2021 in Ascoli Satriano (FG), on the SS 655 - has allowed us to collect evidence against the suspects, accused of having, in various capacities, participated in the organization and commission of at least one attempted robbery of an armored van, which occurred on the following 21 January 2022, always along the SS 655 of Ascoli Satriano (FG), direction Foggia – Candela, not consumed only thanks to the activation of security systems provided by the armored vehicle.

During the criminal action, perpetrated by a commando armed with pistols and war rifles arrived on board high-powered cars – used to ramming the armored van and subsequently escape -, heavy vehicles were used to block the road artery and nail strips to inhibit the circulation of vehicles.

Through the investigations I am three robberies committed between the provinces of Foggia and BAT have also been reconstructed. against the same number of truck drivers, charged to varying degrees to four defendants, who, with the assistance of unidentified accomplices, disguised by balaclavas, they would have stopped the drivers of the articulated trucks along the road, forcing them with violence and under threat of weapons, even from war, to hand over the vehicle to them and abandon them in an isolated place, where the victims were taken on board a car after being deprived of personal freedom.

The Carabinieri, in response to the findings that emerged during the investigative activities – in the first half of 2022 – have:
– two suspects arrested in flagrante delicto, accused to varying degrees of receiving stolen goods, illegal possession of common and clandestine weapons, explosive material and ammunition;
- A total of three trucks seized as the proceeds of a robbery – hidden in a shed owned by a suspect -, two rifles, a pistol, an explosive device, ammunition of various calibers and other material (radio transmitters, camera traps, a flashing light and other);
- Two suspects tracked down and arrested, recipients of an equal number of execution orders for imprisonment issued against them for another cause, who, during the investigations, had made themselves untraceable in order to avoid the restrictive measures.

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Foggia, in synergy with the Arma and with the other Law Enforcement Agencies, continues to promote an incessant action to combat predatory crimes and of particular social alarm that occurred in the territory, with specific reference to crimes committed against banking institutions, credit institutions and post offices.
