Grosseto, a new 'light'
Grosseto, the municipal council has approved the project financing proposal, also concerning the technical feasibility, presented by Enel X (Enel Sole Srl). Finally, a tender will be held for the definitive implementation of the procedural process.
It must be remembered that in addition to the approximately 11 thousand light points already transformed into LEDs in the municipality of Grosseto, the city still has almost 2 thousand units, not publicly owned, which still need to be redeveloped. The objective of the initiative is also to replace the still old light points, transforming them into LEDs and passing them into the ownership of the Municipality itself.
The interventions to be carried out, included in the promoter's proposal, are numerous, including: dismantling of existing lighting fixtures equipped with 'traditional' light sources; redevelopment intervention on all existing lines, with replacement/adaptation of lighting fixtures with others with high energy efficiency; supply and installation of almost 1700 new LED lighting fixtures, replacing existing fixtures; replacement of the electrical protection and control panels, with new electrical panels equipped with the components for the island remote control system and astronomical clock.
The project also envisages the entrusting of the management of all public lighting systems, including energy supply, management and ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, to the company promoting the proposal. The concession will last for 18 years, with a fee lower than the current current expenditure of the Municipality of Grosseto for the management of the lighting systems owned by Enel Sole itself. In the near future, all the information necessary for the timing and methods of participation in the race will be provided.
“We have taken a further step forward in the field of public lighting – declared Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna, mayor of Grosseto, and the councilors Riccardo Megale and Giacomo Cerboni -. The initiative will make it possible to improve the service in the area, triggering an innovation process and reducing consumption and costs. Grosseto will therefore have a decidedly more complete and modern lighting system."
