Bari, Justice Park: Decaro writes to Draghi: «Immediately a commissioner to speed up»
Bari, this morning the mayor of Bari Antonio Decaro sent a letter to the President of the Council of Ministers, Mario Draghi, representing his concerns about the discomfort, lasting more than twenty years, of an entire community for the function of justice which, in the Bari district, it is exercised in spaces that are unsuitable and unworthy of representing the quality of the work of those who work there.
“In recent weeks I have informed the President of the Republic of the conditions in which the organization of justice finds itself in this district – he writes decaro -. The process started on 16 December 2014, when the then Maintenance Commission unanimously approved the favorable opinion on the construction of the Justice Center of the city of Bari on the area of two disused barracks, despite having recorded some steps forward ( such as the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on 30 July last year), to date it has not yet achieved the concrete and operational effects desired by all the institutional actors involved. Indeed, the deadline indicated by the State Property Agency regarding the timescale for the construction and delivery of the first batch alone for April 2028 seems more like a chimera than a sign of attention for a territory and a community which, frankly, deserve different consideration. In this situation it is a duty for a mayor to invoke the direct intervention of the Prime Minister to draw due attention to a territory which, also thanks to the commitment of the judiciary in actions to combat crime, wants to continue to progress and grow on an economic level and social. And in this path of social growth, I am convinced that the judicial function deserves a place of work that represents a symbol of legality worthy of the activity carried out by the judiciary, the lawyers and the many operators. Mr President - we read in the final part of the note -, I defer to your assessments and decisions, also in consideration of my previous requests addressed to the Government, which remained unheard, to proceed quickly, even through the appointment of a Commissioner".
