On November 23rd, in memory of that tragic evening of 43 years ago, the Minister of the Interior Piantedosi he dedicated a few words to the families of the victims and to the law enforcement workers and volunteers who intervened to help in the affected areas.
“My moving memory today goes to the community of Irpinia, hit by the devastating earthquake of 23 November 1980” declared the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, on the occasion of the forty-third anniversary of the earthquake.

“To the families of the victims, still marked by an indelible wound, I express my sincerest sympathy. We must renew our gratitude to all the operators of the police force, the fire brigade and the world of volunteers who, from the very first hours, worked with extraordinary commitment to provide assistance to the population. A perennial testimony of solidarity and self-denial", Piantedosi continues.
