On Thursday 19th, the Portuensi military, with the support of their colleagues from the Provincial Command of Ferrara and those from the "Special Departments", such as the Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit (NAS) of Bologna, the Labour Inspectorate Unit (NIL) of Ferrara and the Forestry Carabinieri Unit of Portomaggiore, deployed in Portomaggiore, Argenta and Voghiera, extraordinary checks to prevent and repress violations of road traffic rules, such as alcohol abuse, but also in the areas of work, the environment and food hygiene.
During the service, in addition to subjecting four bars and their customers to thorough checks, as well as 10 vehicles and around thirty people, deemed to be of operational interest, the Carabinieri also reported to the Este Public Prosecutor's Office as many as five people for drunk driving, crimes relating to the residence of foreigners and violations of workplace safety regulations.
Three other people have been reported to the Prefect for possession of small quantities of narcotics and traffic violations.
Furthermore, the bar manager fined a total of 8.000 euros for health and hygiene violations with temporary closure of the business, while a farmer was fined 2.000 euros for not having stored some plant protection products correctly.
