Today around 10:00 am, at following numerous reports received by 112 indicating a man with suicidal intentions on the “Albani” bridge along the SS309 “Romea” between Porto Garibaldi and Lido degli Estensi, the Operations Centre of the Comacchio Company sent a patrol to the site of the Mobile Radio Unit and one of the Lido degli Estensi Station.

The soldiers, who arrived at the indicated location in a few moments, tracked down the man, a 40-year-old waiter from the area, who had already firmly tied one end of a rope to the safety railing of the bridge and the other end around his own neck.

The Carabinieri maintained a constant dialogue with the man in an attempt to make him desist; however, he suddenly tried to jump into the void. Only the promptness of the soldiers who managed to grab him when he had already gained the void, allowed us to avoid the worst.. Brought back to the road, he was immediately rescued and handed over to paramedics.

The man, fortunately not in danger of life, was then transported to the “Sant'Anna” hospital in Cona by the 118 paramedics.
