They attempted to enter two apartments in Codigoro but were chased away by the owners.
A 64-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, originally from the provinces of Venice and Treviso, identified and stopped by the Carabinieri in Mesola.
An “unlucky” afternoon for a couple who attempted to burgle two apartments in Strada Fronte II tronco in Codigoro. In both cases, in fact, the owners surprised them and the Carabinieri stopped them in Mesola after a brief attempt to escape by car.
In the first apartment, the owner, while she was returning home after taking her son to school and finishing some errands, noticed the presence of an unknown woman who was trying to force open a window of the house.
The owner's screams immediately made her flee in a car parked nearby and driven by her accomplice.
A few minutes later, using the same method, the two attempted to enter a nearby apartment.
In this case, the owner who had gone out the driveway, leaving the door closed, when he came back noticed the door ajar and found himself face to face with the woman. In this case too, the presence of the owner was enough to scare her and her accomplice away, making them disappear on board the same car used shortly before.
The reports sent immediately by the two owners via the emergency call 112 directed to the Operations Centre of the Carabinieri of Comacchio proved decisive, providing the operator with an accurate description of the two individuals and the car in which they had left.
The timely searches launched by the patrols of Codigoro and the Radiomobile were decisive in identifying and stopping the two accomplices in the nearby municipality of Mesola, probably in a vain attempt to return to Veneto and disappear.
After the photo-signalling operations in the Comacchio barracks, the two were reported to the Este Prosecutor's Office for the alleged crime of attempted home burglary in competition.
