Arrest: State Police Arrest Former Church Arsonist
On December 8, the State Police of Fermo executed an order for the execution of a sentence against a fifty year old, convicted of several crimes against property and public safety.
The provision of the Judicial Authority arises from the unification of concurrent penalties for the crimes of mistreatment against a person living with him. Person who has already been convicted in the past for manufacture and carrying of explosive materials and damage following fire. The arrested person will have to face, in fact, 12 years and 11 months' imprisonment for such crimes, a sanction thus imposed following the recognition of the aggravating circumstance of religious discrimination (cd Mancino Law).
The episodes date back to February 2016 when an explosive device was detonated near the cathedral of Fermo, with minor damage to the entrance door. This was followed a series of incendiary explosions, so much so that in April 2016 another rudimentary device was detonated in front of the main door of the Church of San Marco in the Marshes of Fermo. No one was hurt but the damage was extensive since the explosion blew up the entrance door. Other findings of explosive material followed near the churches of the City of Fermo.
The investigative activities reached a turning point after the discovery, in a house at the disposal of the person arrested today, of explosive material and for the manufacturing of rudimentary devices.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of Fermo, in early July 2016, had issued a detention order against the person arrested for execution of a definitive sentence, as a suspect in a crime, because in competition with another subject, nicknamed "The wolf", “manufactured, without a license from the authorities, explosive devices, which were then illegally brought to a public place and exploded, in order to instill public fear and threaten public safety".
Last Thursday, the epilogue of this story took place, in which the Flying Squad assured Justice that the convicted man will have to to expire the sentence of 12 years and 11 months of imprisonment in prison without the possibility of benefiting from an alternative measure.
