The government is working on the Mattei Plan: Italy "Protagonist in the Mediterranean"

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni regarding the implementation of the Mattei Plan “It is the most significant strategic project in the geopolitical field” which aims to make Italy “protagonist in the Mediterranean”. The focus of the project is the creation of a new partnership between Italy and the states of the African continent.

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, illustrated the Mattei Plan project with the Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
The Premier described the plan as a premise “a series of initiatives for Africa that we are carrying out”.
Minister Antonio Tajani he expressed his opinion on the Mattei Plan by declaring “We want to work with the African continent on a project that will further bring benefits because our interlocutors are waiting for our presence. Italy can be the standard-bearer of a European project starting from the Mattei plan".
The focus of the project it is the creation of a new partnership between Italy and the states of the African continent. The basis of cooperation ranges from development to the sustainable supply of natural, water and energy resources.
The Mattei Plan it will last four years and will be followed by a control room, chaired by the Prime Minister and guided by the ministers involved in the project.
The work structure will serve to promulgate “initiatives aimed at accessing resources made available by the EU and international organisations, including international financial institutions and multilateral development banks”.
The control room will require an estimate of for 2024 2.643.949,28 euros per year. Parliament will also be involved in the Mattei Plan. The latter will receive a report every June 30th on the development of the project.
