Putin Threatens West: “Conflict Goes From Regional To Global.” Hypersonic Missile Launched
Putin threatens the West with bellicose statements and new hypersonic missile tests, while the conflict in Ukraine turns into a global crisis directly involving the countries supplying weapons to Kiev.
Putin Threatens West: “Conflict Goes From Regional To Global.” Hypersonic Missile Launched.
The conflict in Ukraine continues to escalate, with Russia’s recent escalation casting a shadow over an already uncertain future. Vladimir Putin has spoken harshly in a televised address, outlining a course of action that directly threatens Western countries that support Ukraine with long-range weapons. The situation highlights the growing risk of a global conflict, fueled by military action and bellicose rhetoric.
Putin: "We will hit those who help Ukraine"
During his speech, Putin reiterated that Russia reserves the right to strike military infrastructure in countries that supply weapons to Kiev. These statements come after Ukraine used British Storm Shadow and American ATACMS missiles to strike targets inside Russian territory. According to the Russian president, these attacks represent a “red line” that, if crossed, justifies a direct and mirror response.
The threat is accompanied by the confirmation of the use of Russian hypersonic missiles such as the Orechnik, a weapon capable of reaching speeds of Mach 10 (over 3.500 km/h), against Ukrainian strategic targets. Moscow says that such missiles are currently virtually impossible to intercept by Western defense systems.
The Role of the West: A Point of No Return?
The direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict is increasingly evident. Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrei Kelin said that the use of British Storm Shadow missiles on Russian territory represents an active participation of Great Britain in the war. A statement that raises further questions about the possible role of NATO in the crisis.
On the other hand, the United States has responded firmly to Moscow's accusations. White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre has attributed Russia's responsibility for the escalation, calling it a "constant provocation." However, communication between Washington and Moscow on the subject of nuclear weapons seems to remain open: the Kremlin has stated that it notified the US, 30 minutes in advance, of the launch of a hypersonic missile.
Zelensky: “The World Must React”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded harshly to Putin’s actions and words. In his evening speech, he accused Russia of using Ukraine as a “testing ground” to test new weapons and war technologies, a violation of the UN Charter. Zelensky called for a stronger response from the international community, stressing that only a decisive response can stop Russia. “If the world does not react, Putin will continue to test his limits,” he warned.
According to Zelensky, the missile attack on Dnipro, one of Ukraine's largest cities, is another step towards escalating the conflict. His appeal for help from the international community reiterates the urgency of concrete measures to force Russia into a real peace.
War Takes on a “Global Character”
Putin described the conflict in Ukraine as an event that has now taken on a “global character.” The use of advanced weapons by both sides underscores a new, more dangerous and less predictable phase of the war. The possibility of hitting Western targets raises concerns about a potential expansion of hostilities, in which the risk of a world war becomes a tangible threat.
The Complexity of Diplomacy: The Role of the UN and Negotiations
In this escalating scenario, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto expressed concern over the lack of effective mediation by the United Nations. “The UN is the only body capable of resolving these disputes,” he said, stressing that the main obstacle to any negotiation is Putin’s own position.
Despite the Russian president’s assurances that he will resolve conflicts through peaceful means, his actions suggest otherwise. Crosetto has said that only a temporary ceasefire could pave the way for a possible diplomatic solution, but for now Moscow seems determined to escalate its attacks.
As the war in Ukraine reaches day 1.003, the chances of a peaceful resolution seem further away than ever. The use of advanced missiles, Putin's threatening statements, and the apparent direct involvement of Western countries make the conflict increasingly complex and dangerous.
