Putin has no doubts: "We will protect Donbass."

In the morning the Russian president, Vladimir Putin has made some statements regarding the progress of the war in Ukraine, in particular about themilitary operation in Donbass, which will intensify over the next two weeks.

As reported by TASS, in a public speech in front of space industry workers gathered at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Putin presented his version of events and said he had no doubts about the positive outcome of his attempt pacification of Donbass.

“This is what will happen” – he said Putin -" There are no doubts. The objectives are clear and noble. The main aim is to help the people of Donbass which we had to recognize because the authorities in Kiev, encouraged byWest, refuse to implement the Minsk agreements, aimed at a peaceful resolution of the problems of Donbass".
Putin, speaking of Donbass, therefore referred to a larger area than that of the separatist territories of Donetsk and Luhansk, whose recognition by Russia was the prologue to the invasion of Ukraine.

In the coming days, following the movement of several Russian troops from the North to the South-East of Ukraine, the international community expects a strong increase in military activity in the Donbass region, an area that in recent weeks has become the main scenario of war actions.

Yesterday, on the 47th day since the start of the war, Ukrainian President Zelensky had called the Russian invasion "shameful" and had again condemned the war crimes of the invaders, adding that “it is only a matter of time before the Russian military and its actions and war crimes will force everyone in the world to renounce their ties to Russia".

The clash in Donbass therefore appears decisive because it would be considered by both heads of state to be the one that will lead to the conclusion of the conflict. Only then could the leaders meet to discuss the conditions for ending the war.
