US Vice President reaffirms support for Israel, while calling for hostage release and two-state solution for lasting peace.

Kamala Harris, “Joe Biden’s policy will not change”: no arms embargo on Israel, but a ceasefire is needed.

Kamala Harris, US Vice President, said she would not change Joe Biden's policy on arms supplies to Israel, confirming that there would be no embargo. In the CNN interview, Harris stressed her unwavering commitment to Israel's defense and its ability to defend itself.

However, she reiterated the need for a hostage-free deal and a ceasefire, acknowledging that “too many innocent Palestinians have been killed.” Harris also supports a two-state solution between Israel and Gaza as a path to peace.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has secured a preliminary agreement for a humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip, which would allow for a polio vaccination campaign for children.

Richard Peeperkorn, WHO Representative for the West Bank and Gaza, announced that the parties involved have been urged to suspend fighting to ensure safe access to health facilities.

Israel also admitted to mistakenly hitting a clearly marked World Food Programme (WFP) vehicle in the Gaza Strip, attributing the incident to a “communication error” between Israeli military units.

The United States has urged Israel to immediately correct these problems and ensure that similar incidents do not happen again. Meanwhile, an Israeli strike has hit a residential building in Gaza, causing further tensions and putting pressure on health facilities, such as Al-Awda Hospital, which is struggling to handle patients.
