Italy-Qatar: Undersecretary of State Tripodi's mission to Doha to strengthen investments and cooperation
Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi has launched her mission dedicated to growth diplomacy in Doha. Strategic meetings with Qatari authorities have strengthened economic and political relations between Italy and Qatar, with a focus on investments, infrastructure and energy. The visit concluded with the Italian Design Day, a celebration of Italian excellence in design and sustainability.
Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi is in Doha, first stage of a mission focused on growth diplomacy that will continue in Asia. Yesterday, Sunday 16 February, accompanied by Ambassador Paolo Toschi, she had a fruitful bilateral with the Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed. Focus on the positive trade exchange between Italy and Qatar, which will be further implemented thanks to the Memorandum for the promotion of investments, signed last year in Rome.
The following have also been examined in depth: opportunities for new collaborations in key sectors such as energy, defence, infrastructure and transport. "We already have many successful examples" the Undersecretary specified, mentioning, among others, the Italian contribution to the expansion project of the North Field LNG deposit. "We are ready to contribute our expertise to the realization of the ambitious goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, which offers promising opportunities also in innovative sectors such as energy transition, digital, tourism development and sectors related to agri-food and biotechnology.and” he concluded, hoping for the creation of a future Business Forum involving Italian and Qatari companies.
Subsequently The Undersecretary met with Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary General of MOFA. During the cordial meeting, the political and cultural relations between the two countries, the Italian humanitarian support for the Palestinian population and the Food for Gaza program were discussed in depth.Qatar is a strategic partner for Italy. We are united by deep relations of friendship and collaboration, which are reflected in the excellent state of our relations” commented Tripodi.
The Undersecretary concluded his visit to Doha by meeting the representatives of the Italian Community and the Country System present at the inauguration of the Italian Design Day, organized by the Italian Embassy, where two were presented projects created by students of the VCU School of Arts – Qatar in collaboration with Italian teachers and architecture studios. “Tableya”, curated by professors Marco Bruno and Giovanni Innella, which consists of 3D printed tables at the “Nucleo” studio in Turin and inspired by the nomadic tradition of the region; “Acapulco Reimagined”, curated by professors Majdulin Nasrallah and Simone Muscolino, a project for the reuse of some armchairs, combining the themes of sustainability with those of local aesthetics.You are the testimonials of our know-how and the unequivocal demonstration of appreciation for our excellence. We also count on you, to increase the great potential for development between Italy and Qatar" said the Undersecretary.
