The Italian Interior Minister, Matteo Piantedosi, spoke by telephone with his Japanese counterpart, in view of the next G7 meeting.

Yesterday morning the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi had a preparatory call, in view of the next G7 ministerial meeting to be held in Mito, Japan, with Japanese Interior Minister Yoshifumi Matsumura.

“Full harmony between our agendas and during the Italian Presidency in 2024 we will guarantee continuity to the topics under discussion, bringing forward numerous points in common. First of all, we will promote the debate on the main threats coming from transnational organized crime, and in this context we will propose to examine in particular the issue of combating migrant traffickers and human trafficking" said Minister Piantedosi, finished the video call Japanese Interior Minister Yoshifumi Matsumura. The two ministers addressed various points during their discussion, addressing the issues that are of most interest in international current affairs. A theme at the center of the conversation was the fight against terrorism and the prevention of the risk of possible terrorist infiltration into illegal migratory flows. During the conversation the two Ministers also addressed other different and important topics such as the new frontiers ofArtificial Intelligence, threats coming from the web, such as the sexual exploitation of minors online and the fight against them to drug trafficking. The phone call between the two ministers took place in preparation for the next G7 ministerial meeting.
