Minister Tajani will particularly emphasize the importance of maintaining close coordination among the Ministers of the Quintet to ensure a peaceful, inclusive transition that guarantees the social, religious and political rights of all components of Syrian civil society, in line with the principles of mediation of the United Nations. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will then focus on the topic of humanitarian contributions, recalling that since 2019, Italy has provided an average annual allocation of over 40 million euros for the Syrian population and for refugees in neighboring countries.

With the aim of preserving the territorial unity of Syria, the Quintet Ministers will also address the issue of socio-economic support for the population and the stability of the country, including the possibility of reviewing the current sanctions regimes in place. Particular attention will therefore be paid to the issue of Syrian refugees and how to ensure their safe, dignified and sustainable return to the country.
