Italy/Germany collaboration on labor market challenges strengthened. Minister Calderone: “Work is the priority of the Italian G7”
The Italian and German Labor Ministers share concerns and objectives in a meeting in Berlin. Central to the meeting was the impact of artificial intelligence on the labor market and work as a priority in the next Italian G7.
The Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Marina Calderone, met yesterday in Berlin, within the framework of the Italy-Germany intergovernmental summit, the German Federal Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Hubertus Heil. At the center of the conversation was the collaboration between the two countries on common challenges: the implementation of Bilateral Action Plan and the Joint Declaration of Intent on professional training, public employment services and active policies.
The Ministers shared the concern about the shortage of qualified manpower in the face of a high job offer and comforting data on employment, about the aging of the population and the growing need for professional training and updating. Minister Calderone then visited the Think Tank of the German Ministry of Labor on Artificial Intelligence.
Minister Marina Calderone he has declared: “With Minister Heil we discussed in depth the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the labor market in order to manage it instead of suffering it and being afraid of it, as well as good practices for the integration of migrants into the labor market and collaboration on the training front professional. We also shared the priority importance of the work during the Italian Presidency of the G7 in 2024, for which Minister Heil assured us of Germany's full support".
