On the sidelines of the European Council, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, together with the leaders of Denmark and the Netherlands, promoted an informal meeting with several Member States to discuss innovative solutions on the management of returns and migration. The European Commission presented the new “Return Regulation”, with the aim of strengthening the EU legal framework.

On the sidelines of the European Council, the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, together with the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and the Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, promoted a new informal meeting between some of the Member States most interested in the topic of innovative solutions to be applied to the management of the migratory phenomenon. and in particular to strengthening the legal framework on returns.

President Meloni, in addition to supporting a prompt discussion and approval of the measure in the Council and in the European Parliament, hoped, as anticipated by President von der Leyen in her usual pre-European Council letter, rapid developments also in the area of ​​the European list of safe countries of origin and the anticipation of some aspects of the Migration and Asylum Pact, starting from the concept of safe country of origin.
