Trump-Putin phone call, denied by the Kremlin but confirmed by the Washington Post.

The dynamics of the Ukrainian conflict are further complicated by a series of geopolitical developments involving not only Ukraine and Russia, but also the United States and North Korea. Between new military alliances and accusations of conspiracies, international tension is growing, with direct effects on the populations affected by the war.

Trump-Putin Phone Call: Kremlin Denied, Washington Post Confirms

In the last few hours, news has spread of an alleged telephone contact between former US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which occurred after Trump was elected as the Republican candidate for US presidency. The Kremlin, through its spokesman Dmitry Peskov, declared that the news was unfounded and called it "a pure invention".

“There are no specific plans for any contact between Putin and Trump,” Peskov said, denying the *Washington Post* article, which instead confirmed the phone call. This episode highlights how Trump, a candidate for the US presidency, is already indirectly involved in the complex diplomatic relations between the United States and Russia, and how any news about his possible connection with Putin could generate media sensation and political repercussions.

Conspiracy Accusations: Moscow and the Alleged US Plot to Remove Zelensky

Adding to the confusion is a statement from the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), accusing the US State Department of actively working to remove current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In a statement reported by Tass, the SVR claims that the US is considering “legitimate scenarios” for replacing Zelensky, including holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine despite the ongoing conflict.

According to Moscow, Washington considers Zelensky “too arrogant” and is therefore considering an alternative leadership for Ukraine. However, the US government has not made any official statements regarding these accusations.

The Attack on the Kurakhove Dam and the Risk of Flooding

Meanwhile, in eastern Ukraine, hostilities continue to put critical infrastructure at risk for civilians. According to Ukrainian Governor Vadym Filashkin, Russian forces attacked the Kurakhove Reservoir dam in Donetsk, damaging the infrastructure and causing a dangerous rise in water levels in the Vovcha River.

This incident has raised fears of flooding in communities along the river, including the Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack on the dam poses a threat not only to civilians, but also to the environment, further accentuating the humanitarian crisis in the area.

Preparations for massive bombing: Russian missile buildup

On the military front, tensions do not seem to be abating. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, reported via Telegram that the Russian military is stockpiling missiles at strategic airfields, in preparation for possible large-scale bombing in Ukraine. This strategy of accumulation raises fears of an imminent escalation, with potentially devastating consequences for the affected areas.

North Korea and Russia: A New Military Alliance

Crowning this climate of growing instability is the recent ratification of a defense treaty between Russia and North Korea. The pact, formalized on November 11 by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and previously approved by Vladimir Putin, seals a strategic alliance that strengthens ties between the two countries.

The Russia-North Korea partnership could include direct military support from Pyongyang, which, according to some Western sources, has already sent thousands of troops to Ukraine to support the Russian army. The alliance marks a consolidation of the axis between the two nations against the West, uniting them in a common position against Ukraine and its allies.
