It took place yesterday, December 11th, At the Police Forces Advanced Training School, final day of the Plenary Meeting of Security Experts of the Ministry of the Interior.
The meeting was attended by Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi, intervened on behalf of the Minister Antonio Tajani.
The participation of a political representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in continuity with what happened in 2024, represented a concrete sign of growing institutional attention reserved for the Network of Security Experts, considered a strategic component for the protection of national security in an increasingly complex international context.
West Africa and the Sahel at the heart of the intervention
In his speech, Undersecretary Tripodi recalled theItaly's commitment to the African continent, with particular reference to theWest Africa and Sahel, areas characterized by a critical intertwining of poverty, institutional instability e presence of terrorist groups.
«West Africa and the Sahel today represent one of the most important testing grounds for our security- he has declared Tripodi –. Monitoring its evolution is essential to prevent repercussions on regional stability and our national interests."
The Undersecretary also recalled the Italian participation in the High-Level Event of the Aqaba Process, stressing the importance of countering the growing interconnection between organized crime, terrorism and illicit trafficking, phenomena that are increasingly intertwined on a transnational scale.
Tripodi finally highlighted the central role of the Network of Security Experts, which ensures a operational coverage in 85 countries, representing a fundamental support for the Italian diplomatic offices in the prevention of crime, terrorism and international illicit trafficking.
«The structured collaboration between the MAECI and the Ministry of the Interior - he concluded - strengthens Italy's ability to operate in the most sensitive contexts, contributing to the stability of partner countries and to the protection of national interests».
