The Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, will be on a mission to Spain, to Barcelona, ​​to participate in theeighth Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, which will bring together the organization's Foreign Ministers.
“In addition to confirming Italy's clear condemnation of the brutal aggression by Hamas and to reiterate our support for the right to Israel to defend itself, I want to underline the importance that the Government Italian attributes to dialogue with the countries of the area and the needs to encourage regional coordination on the crisis" commented the Deputy Prime Minister. He then added that “the agreement on the release of the hostages demonstrates the centrality of dialogue and diplomacy, as well as the need to continue working for a political solution to the conflict, so that it does not spread to a regional level."
On the sidelines of the Forum's work, Tajani will meet his counterparts from the countries of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions.
In light of the dramatic situation in the Gaza Strip, the meeting ofUnion for the Mediterranean(which brings together 43 Member States, including countries from the EU, the southern shore of the Mediterranean and the Western Balkans) will be dedicated to an exchange of views aimed at encouraging a constructive discussion for the stabilization of the Middle Eastern region and also to start a reflection on the post-conflict and the reconstruction in Gaza.
