The Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani He will be in India starting tomorrow for an institutional mission that will touch New Delhi e Mumbai, , with a busy agenda of political meetings and economic events aimed at further strengthening the Italy-India Strategic Partnership.

The visit is part of the development of relations between the two countries, which began in 2023, with the aim of consolidating political, commercial, industrial, and technological cooperation.

New Delhi, Modi and Jaishankar meet to focus on security, the IMEC corridor, and the 2025-2029 strategic plan.

In New Delhi, Tajani will meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confirm the constant growth of bilateral relations, considered today among the most strategic in the Europe-Asia axis.

An interview with the will follow External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, during which the implementation of the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029, defining new objectives in the priority areas of cooperation.

At the centre of the visit was also a comparison with the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, dedicated to the prospects of collaboration on the IMEC corridor (India–Middle East–Europe Corridor) and short-term operational initiatives, including the establishment of a customs fast track to facilitate trade and investment.

UNESCO: Italian Cuisine Towards Intangible Cultural Heritage List

During his stay in New Delhi, the Minister will participate in the work of the UNESCO Committee, called to decide on theItalian Cuisine Registration in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

An event of great cultural and identity significance that the Italian government is following with particular attention.

Mumbai's Italy-India Business Forum focuses on automotive, energy, sports-tech, and agri-food.

On December 11th the mission will continue to Mumbai, , the economic capital of India, where Tajani will preside together with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal il Italy-India Business Forum.

This is the first Forum hosted in Mumbai and third in 2025, after the meetings in New Delhi (April) and Brescia (June).

The focus will be on cooperation in the following sectors: automotive and advanced mobility, renewable energy, sports technologies, agrifood and food safety

The main players in the Italian system will participate: CDP, SIMEST, SACE, ICE Agency, and Confindustria.

Growing trade: €14,3 billion in trade in 2024

In 2024, trade between Italy and India reached 14,3 billion euros, with: 5,2 billion in Italian exports (+ 0,8%), 9,1 billion in imports (-0,4%)

The Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has set an ambitious goal: reach 20 billion annually by 2029.

Meetings with Indian "unicorns" and new opportunities for Italian businesses

Meetings with some of the experts are also planned within the framework of the Forum. Indian unicorns – startups valued at over $1 billion – and with theItalian-Indian Entrepreneurs Association.

With an economic growth estimated at + 6,5% in 2024 and a population of 1,4 billion inhabitants, India is one of the most dynamic markets on the planet and represents one of the pillars of the Action Plan for Italian Exports to High-Potential Non-EU Markets.

The most promising sectors for Italian companies include:

  • high technology and machinery

  • space and defense

  • infrastructure and construction

  • renewable energy and green transition

  • digitalization and industrial innovation
