Putin: “We are advancing along the entire front. Kiev attacks us for advantages in negotiations."

The Russian forces, as stated by Vladimir Putin, they are advancing along the entire line of contact with Ukraine. The Russian President stressed that the main goal of the Ministry of Defense is push back Ukrainian forces from Russian territory, while accusing Kiev of attacking Russia with Western support to improve its own position in future negotiations. Meanwhile, in the Russian region of Kursk, the authorities have expanded the area of evacuation of civilians due to the advance of Ukrainian forces, who have occupied several locations and penetrated up to 12 kilometers into Russian territory.

The situation in the Kursk region is particularly critical, with at least 69 people injured, including 8 children, due to Ukrainian attacks. The local governor said debris from a downed Ukrainian missile hit an apartment building, causing further injuries and damage. In response, the Russian military launched attacks against Ukrainian troops using Ka-52 helicopters and T-72 tanks, with Moscow promising a "tough response" to Ukrainian attacks.

At the same time, the situation is also tense on the Ukrainian front. In Kiev, Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down all Russian drones targeting the capital, while an attack in the Kiev region left a man and his four-year-old son dead. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has denounced Russia's use of a North Korean missile, calling the attack an act of deliberate terrorism. Zelensky also reiterated the need for a powerful air shield to protect Ukraine and solutions from international partners to eliminate restrictions on his country's defensive actions.

Meanwhile, a fire that broke out at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has raised concerns about nuclear safety. Pro-Russian authorities in the region confirmed the fire had been put out, but Russia accused Ukraine of "nuclear terrorism", claiming the fire was caused by a Ukrainian drone attack. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said there were no impacts on nuclear safety.

In response to the Ukrainian incursion into the Kursk region, the Kremlin appears to downplay the scale of the operation, avoiding declaring a state of war or martial law so as not to cause internal panic. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Kremlin has advised Russian parliamentarians not to comment on the operation or to do so in a limited way, referring only to official statements. However, Ukraine continues to keep up the pressure, declaring that the incursion has boosted the morale of its troops and reiterating strict compliance with humanitarian law during operations on Russian territory.
