Minister Tajani chairs the Working Group on exports and economic diplomacy

The Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, chaired a meeting yesterday at the Farnesina aimed at examining, together with export partners, economists and experts, methods and strategies for strengthening Italian exports.

The Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, chaired a meeting yesterday at the Farnesina aimed at examining, together with export partners, economists and experts, methods and strategies for strengthening Italian exports.

This further operational meeting of the Working Group, created at the beginning of the mandate, was dedicated in particular to exports to Germany, taking into account that the German market is the main international destination for Made in Italy.

During the meeting, the contents of two studies carried out respectively by Cassa Depositi e Presiti with the Society of Insurance and Financial Services for Businesses and by Prometeia were examined. Furthermore, representatives of some of the trade associations most representative of our exports to Germany and to the markets with the greatest development potential also spoke.

“Our goal is to strengthen strategic and innovative ideas to support our businesses exporters, useful for defending, regaining or acquiring new shares in foreign markets, in a characterized economic context by numerous challenges, such as those determined by the two crisis fronts opened in Ukraine and the Middle East, by the instability of the region Middle Eastern, high interest rates, transformation ecological and digital that our economies are called upon to achieve", ha declared Minister Antonio Tajani, carrying on: “Among these challenges we must also consider the transformations taking place in the German economy, which have a immediate impact on Italian exports, in light of the high level of interdependence and integration of the economies of the two countries, date from thousands of companies operating within the same supply chains productive".

“With trade exceeding 168 billion euros in 2022, Germany represents our first trading partner, first global supplier and first target market of ours export. There is a lot of Made in Italy "hidden" in German exports Italian added value in Made in Germany, which must be protected" concluded Tajani.

The minister also indicated that the government action wants to extend to all foreign markets, with particular reference to the industrial sectors linked to the green transition and digital revolution processes. In this sense, it will be necessary to aim even more decisively towards markets such as the United States, India, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, where Made in Italy is already strong but which still have vast potential for Italian exports.
