Middle East crisis: The risk of an imminent Iranian attack against Israel is growing.

The tension between Iran and Israel is reaching critical levels, with the possibility of a imminent Iranian attack. The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has contacted European leaders, including Italy, to discuss the situation in the Middle East. The spokesman for the US National Security Council, John Kirby, expressed concern about a possible Iranian attack in the next few days, so much so that the Pentagon has already changed its military posture in the region.

The Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, had a long conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Ali Bagheri, warning that an Iranian reaction would be a grave mistake, especially for the consequences on the civilian population. Tajani suggested focusing on a truce in Gaza before taking further action, but noted that Iran's position remains rigid.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom, France and Germany issued a joint statement, warning Iran to avoid actions that could lead to an all-out war in the region. At the same time, the Vatican has expressed deep concern about the escalation, with Secretary of State Pietro Parolin calling on Iran to pursue dialogue rather than war.

According to Fox News, zero hour for an Iranian attack could be very close, with Iran having already prepared its missile and drone units. The Israeli army, for its part, is taking precautions, preparing a possible pre-emptive strike against Hezbollah in Lebanon and increasing raids against terrorist targets in the region. So far, Israeli forces have struck thousands of targets and killed numerous fighters, but concern remains about possible infiltration along the northern border.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stressed the need for vigilance and readiness, explaining that these should not be confused with fear or panic. Gallant reiterated support for an agreement with Hamas to release the hostages, although this could happen in stages.

The United States, meanwhile, is accelerating the dispatch of a second aircraft carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, to the region, in response to fears of a large-scale attack by Iran or Hezbollah. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also ordered it deployment of a nuclear submarine with cruise missiles in the same area, demonstrating the United States' serious commitment to preventing regional escalation.
